How do turbulent tides pass on their calm
How do we humans crave the sea so
How does the biggest meanest wave oft turn mellow and shy

More often than not
My heart’s only desire is to hear it talk
To embrace it’s infinite wisdom

It’s surreal
This attachment of ours
To this body of water

Indefinite it’s pull to your heart strings
Unmistakable it’s call to pour
Into it all that we don’t know, all that we fear

The sound of the waves
The winter sea breeze
Over powering our senses and souls

The comfort it proffers
The peace it carries
Across miles and miles

The siren’s call
The undeniable embrace
Enveloping us all
Man, land and beast
