Have settled in bone deep

And breathing is once again a task

Tears I cannot hide today

Neither can I talk

It suffocates

Until I come out

For a breath only to hear

A Muslim prayer

Blasted on speakers

Not understanding

Any other word but Allah

I pause

The voice becomes soothing

A smile plays on my lips

Knowing he’s up there

Knowing he won’t give

My anything more

Than what I can handle

I take small breaths

It’s tough to forego

Smiles & Inner peace

Tough to breathe

But unfortunately or fortunately

The hope of peace

In the deepest trenches

Of my heart & soul
